Anthony Petrello has always been good at everything he touches. This is probably one of the main reasons why some would look at his life and feel a bit bereft.
They just might, dare I say, feel just a bit jealous that this man not only was able to pursue a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Mathematics, but he was also even readily accepted into law school after that.
There is an interesting dichotomy in the way that Lloyd Grove views Anthony Petrello. Grove was a former college roommate of Petrello’s, and alternates between admiration and jealousy for his former roommate. One one hand, Petrello was an 18-year-old math whiz at the time. Indeed, Grove describes him as even being reminiscent of the character in Good Will Hunting.
Indeed, being a math whiz can certainly give you an advantage in many leadership positions. Mr. Petrello has certainly used his intellect to his advantage. And while Lloyd Grove is no slouch, he cannot by any means compare to the roughly $68 million in compensation that Petrello received as CEO of Nabors Industries.
Besides his CEO duties, Petrello has also served as the director for many other organizations, including as director of Stewart and Stevenson, LLC; director of MediaOnDemand.com and director of the Texas Children’s Hospital beause of his daughter’s neurological condition. Anthony Petrello has truly come a long way since his days as a math whiz at Yale. Even Lloyd Grove notices it, but we all can find it admirable that Petrello gives back to the community.
